If you have never set foot in the wonderful Muscatine Art Center, then you are in for a treat! Whether you grew up in Muscatine or are new to the area, you have probably driven past the Art Center, which is located at 1314 Mulberry Avenue, many times.
We would encourage you to step back in history and explore the Musser Museum part of the Art Center, which was once home to Laura Musser. Following Laura’s 1964 death, in 1965, the home was gifted to the City of Muscatine by her heirs. It was to be used as a memorial art gallery and museum. More information about Laura Musser and the Art Center’s history can be found on the Muscatine Art Center’s website.
Today, the mansion’s 11 rooms host important collections of paintings, sculpture, Oriental carpets, and decorative arts. The adjoining Stanley Gallery hosts national, traveling art exhibitions.
